TLC for Kids is a private enrichment school that teaches children ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years old using a unique method that involves music and flashcards. Parents trust how beneficial and effective TLC methods are after recognizing their child’s improvements and development. Children love the fun and excitement of learning with music at TLC, while also becoming confident learners.
Early childhood experiences are crucial for optimal development. It is a time when children’s brain cells are making neural connections, which must be reinforced with countless positive early experiences such as music. Music as an active and passive experience can have a powerful influence on a child’s early development from a young age.
There are many benefits of early musical experiences. Research indicates that music 1) stimulates the mind, 2) improves creativity, 3) energizes and calms, 4) inspires and motivates, and 5) enhances children’s learning.
How does music enhance children’s learning? Using music as a method to teach focuses children’s attention and provides a motivating environment for learning. In addition, children are able to learn, retain, and recall information best because music is interesting and meaningful—and research confirms that we all learn and retain information better when we find it interesting and meaningful!
Did you know that through music children’s memory skills and aural discrimination skills increase? This is important to know because one must be aware of young children’s auditory and discrimination skills. Music increases these listening skills in a fun and relaxed way. Listening skills are key in singing, language, expression, reading and writing. Overall, music can play a very important role in language and literacy development.
Finally, we all have a variety of different but mutually enhancing avenues to learning and music is just one avenue—teach through music and enhance children’s learning!
Classes
TLC for Kids school offers a variety of classes, such as Japanese and English early childhood enrichment classes and English private lessons. All of our classes are taught using a special image-based teaching method.
Our early childhood enrichment classes primarily focus on teaching phonics and basic mathematical skills. We have created well over 150 songs dedicated to phonics and math. We also cover shapes, colors, animals, problem solving, science, geography, and social studies.
On the other hand, our private lessons are specifically geared towards preparing your child for private school admissions tests. We will cover vocabulary, language skills, math, and many more important skills necessary for the school admissions process.
Our Japanese classes focus on teaching hiragana, katakana, kanji, and basic mathematical skills. We also teach Japanese culture, history, geography, and seasonal events. This class is designed for children who have basic Japanese language skills. TLC also provides JSL (Japanese as Second Language) classes for children who do not know any Japanese.
In addition to teaching a very diverse range of subjects, both of our classes will give your children a workout in memory and listening skills, comprehension skills, and confidence towards learning in a normal school setting.

Learning Materials
TLC for Kids produces a large portion of the music that can be heard in the classroom. These songs were created by the teachers of TLC for Kids. Each song was created with a specific purpose. These songs are excellent for our students to listen to anytime they are not in the classroom.
Not only do we create our own music, we also create our own homework sheets that reinforce the information your child will learn in class. These homework sheets provide your child with the materials they need to enhance their reading, writing, and math skills.
For the parents who are not able to attend one of our schools, materials we use in the classroom are available at our online store.

Early Childhood Enrichment Class Information
Our early childhood enrichment class students typically attend one 45 minute class per week. This one class will be at the same time and day every week. Classes are divided by age groups. Children and parents are asked to try our free introductory class before enrollment.
The tuition for early childhood enrichment classes is $110 per month. Tuition includes participation of 4 classes and homework worksheets.
There is a one-time $50 registration fee (non refundable).
Students will also receive a reading binder where they will add reading sheets to as they progress with their reading.
Each class will have no more than 6 students. Infant classes (18 months - 3 years) are 4 students per class. This is an optimal and manageable amount of students for the TLC teachers.
Free Introductory Class
We strongly recommend trying one of our free introductory classes first. This gives the parent and child an opportunity to observe and participate in an actual class. This also allows the teacher time to assess the child for better class placement.

Parent Participation
TLC for Kids encourages all parents to participate in the learning process with their children. We recognize the importance of building the parent-child relationship and support all opportunities to bring parents and their children closer together. We require a parent or guardian to be present in all 18 month to 3 years old classes. Parents of our older (4-up) students are allowed to watch the last class of each month. |
